We are excited to profile some of the highly competent and committed women in our ranks, this week – next up is Sara Ocker, Weifield Assistant Project Manager!

“I HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR THE TRADES” ~ SARA OCKER, WEIFIELD ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

I got my start in the construction industry in 2016 when I began working for a utility subcontractor doing design work for new residential subdivision underground utilities.  I quickly advanced to a leadership position where I managed 27 Design employees responsible for all phases of electric and gas distribution work for Xcel Energy.  During this time, I participated in the Denver Metro HBA as well as built relationships with homebuilders across the Northern Colorado and Denver Metro landscapes.

I began my career at Weifield as an Assistant Project Manager in January 2020.  One of my professional goals has been to pursue my PMP certification and to become a Project Manager in the construction field.

I genuinely enjoy the people in the construction industry. My father was a general contractor and my husband is a pipefitter.  I have great respect for the trades and the men and women who go out every day and help to build a better future.

I would first like to thank Russell Tafoya and Scott Dick for taking a chance and hiring me.  I have learned so much in the short time I have been at Weifield and look forward to the future.  I would also like to thank my entire Industrial Team in Windsor.  Everyone welcomed me with open arms and have been willing to take the time to answer my questions and help me learn the “Weifield Way”.

What I enjoy most about Weifield is by far, the people.  The Weifield culture is amazing and it shows in the pride everyone takes in the job they do daily.

My goal for the future is to obtain my PMP certification and take on a Project Management role.  I aspire to keep learning and strive for 1% improvement each and every day.  It is an exciting time for women in construction and I hope that my experiences can help inspire other women to join our growing industry.

CELEBRATING WIC WEEK: THE AMAZING WOMEN OF WEIFIELD (FEATURE #4)!

March 1 – 7, 2020 is nationally recognized as Women in Construction (WIC) Week — where companies throughout the U.S. celebrate and emphasize the growing role of women in the industry!

We are excited to profile some of the highly competent and committed women in our ranks, this week – next up is Glori Thompson, Weifield HR Generalist!

“THIS IS AN INDUSTRY FOR ALL” ~ GLORI THOMPSON, WEIFIELD HR GENERALIST

I began my HR career in a food manufacturing organization on the east coast.  I really enjoyed the fast paced/never the same day to day activities, and wanted something similar when I moved to Colorado.  I found the position with Weifield on Craigslist and never looked back.

My favorite aspects of construction are the fast paced environment, and having a wonderful down to earth team focused on a common goal.I want to thank Lauren Worth, the HR Director at Weifield, for all of her support, guidance, and her ear in my times of frustrations. The people are the best part of Weifield!  I can go to any person in any department and know they will try to support and provide knowledge with whatever issue comes up.My aspiration for the future is to get the word out that this is an industry for all.
