Chief Electrical Estimator

General Job Description

The Chief Electrical Estimator is responsible for the oversight of the estimating process for all projects across all business units.

General Responsibilities

  >Estimating Process Analysis and Documentation: Research, analyze, and document the company estimating process in order to find ways to be more efficient, productive, and profitable. Hold staff accountable to the process.

  >Identify Solutions for Improvement in the Organization: Through process analysis, this individual shall determine areas of improvement in terms of efficiency and company effectiveness, developing appropriate solutions.

  >Strategic Guidance: Develop strategic direction analysis for Weifield as an organization. Make recommendations as to courses of action in terms of supporting WGC growth strategy for all business sectors of the company.  Assess and identify potential risks and provide viable solutions.

  >Tool Analysis: Provide the estimating team with the proper tools to make the team efficient in the process. Renew and maintain current systems while researching potential tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the estimating    Tool analysis and development should be executed closely with both software development and the chief technology officer.

  >Training/Mentoring: Promote the professional growth of each team member by being their leader and providing a training guide for each of them to improve on their career. Continually pursue opportunities for personal career/training development.

  >Recruiting: Continually seek and refer potential employees to the Weifield Human Resources department and the management team.

  >Industry Awareness: Continually seek industry and market information to provide Weifield with the information necessary for successful business development.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  >Conduct weekly meetings with members of the Weifield management team to discuss bidding strategy and top targets pursuits with sales team

  >Manage weekly bid schedule

  >Manage the WGC estimating process from start to finish

  >Conduct bid reviews for each project to establish consistency among the team as it pertains to quality of estimates

  >Responsible for completeness, accuracy, and timing of each bid

  >Recognize and mitigate areas of risk for each project type

  >Great understanding on estimating ratios and metrics

  >Maintain and manage all historical data used for budgeting

  >Perform cost analysis and manages all data analytics for our department

  >Communicate, educate and reinforce all company standards for estimating as it pertains to plans and specification and design assist/build work.

  >Maintain and upgrade the company Accubid estimating system, database (units and prices) and assemblies

  >Maintain and upgrade all rates and fees to be current with the market

  >Develop and conduct training specific to each team member based on skill set

Qualifications/Skills Required

  >Advocates and communicates Weifield PACT values – – PEOPLE, ADVANCED PROCESS, COMMUNITY & TRUSTED RELATIONSHIP

  >Candidate must have 7+ years of electrical estimating experience.

  >Excellent quantitative and analytical skills are mandatory.

  >Advanced understanding of the electrical industry.

  >Candidate must have entrepreneurial approach to problem solving and the ability to handle a variety of tasks.

  >Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  >Motivated, detail oriented, and will not accept second best.

  >Possess strong interpersonal skills in order to work in a diverse, dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  >Candidate must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in Weifield’s business strategies.

  >Candidate must be willing to travel as needed.

  >Possess computer knowledge that includes MS Office, Accubid, LiveCount, Visio, and CAD, with the ability to learn new software quickly.



The Chief Electrical Estimator reports to the Executive Director of Preconstruction


Measurements (90 day and yearly)

The chief electrical estimator’s success is measured by the following criteria:

  >Build trust quickly amongst the team

  >Ability to plan and manage projects without guidance

  >Development and management of process to streamline production and reduce WGC exposure to risk.

  >Ability to bring answers to the table and implement solutions quickly

  >Quarterly and annual Check-In evaluations

Compensation Package


Start Date:                                                            TBD

Status:                                                                   Full-time / Exempt

Pay Rate:                                                               $105,000 – $126,800 a year

Employee & Family Health Insurance:           Healthcare 100% of the “Base Plan” by WGC 1st of the month following date of hire

Voluntary Dental/Vision Insurance:               Paid by employee based on coverage selection 1st of the month following date of hire

Disability & Accident Insurance:                      Paid by employee based on coverage selection 1st of the month following date of hire

Life Insurance:                                                     Paid by company at rate of $50,000 policy, 1st of the month following date of hire

PTO:                                                                       Accrues 15 days per year 1-5; 20 days per year after 5 years and 25 days per year after 5 years.  Seven paid holidays per year.

401k/Safe Harbor:                                              Participate after 60 days. Weifield matches 100% of investment up to 4% after one year of consistent employment.

Car Allowance:                                                     $850 monthly allowance

Phone:                                                                   $150 monthly allowance

Journeyman Electrician License:                     Preferred
