Prefabrication Shop Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Job Description
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for developing and supervising the Weifield Group Contracting Inc. prefabrication department apprentices, mechanical assemblers, fabricators and warehouse clerks, while taking measures to increase the company’s effectiveness and efficiency.
Job Specific Responsibilities
>Direction of Mechanical Assemblers and Apprentices
>Work with Field Foreman on Complex Orders to ensure timely deliveries, proper allocation of man hours and materials. This action has a direct correlation to the profitability of each project making this a critical action.
>Working closely with both those in the Field and Purchasing to ensure all material orders are correct and delivered with JIT practices in mind. Orders quantities must be very specific in description and quantity as not to add to undo financial impact to the project/organization.
>Manage material cost and labor through proper manpower allocation, just in time delivery and accurate task estimation
>Safety – Everyone is to be afforded a safe working environment in accordance with WGC guidelines
>Scheduling Work – All projects are to be scheduled in the most efficient and productive manner necessary. All projects must be delivered on the requested date by those in the field as not to disrupt their schedules thus creating scheduling issues and/or changes to their projects.
>Accountable for the safety and wellbeing of those in the shop
>Accountable for the daily huddles which include, but are not limited to, daily tasks, safety training, Weifield announcements, proper tool training, etc.
>Apprentice and Mechanical Assembler Reviews of which will be accountable to determining raises and/or needed terminations
>Lean Manufacturing Implementation and best practices. By creating and managing a lean environment the organization and its employees can benefit though a cleaner, more organized working environment, reduced material costs, reduction in staffing, and more profitability.
>Continuous Process Improvement
>Possess excellent understanding of the electrical industry and tools.
>The ability to think outside the box and come up with different time and cost saving ideas.
>Motivated, detail oriented, and will not accept second best.
>Possess strong interpersonal skills to work in a diverse, dynamic, and fast paced environment.
>Capable of multi-tasking.
>Must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in Weifield’s business strategies.
>Must be willing to travel as needed.
>Established management and training experience.
>Journeyman’s license preferred
>Computer skills word, excel, blue beam and VDC
>Knowledge of metal fabrication and related processes
>Flexible, open minded and able to meet tight deadlines
>Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
>Lifting 51 to 150 lbs with help as required.
>Carry tools and materials up to 100 lbs up to 400 feet.
>Must be able to gain access to construction work areas via ladders and stairs safely, meeting all OSHA and equipment manufacturer requirements.
>Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate the disabled.
>Job requires working in all types of weather, on your feet, 8 to 10 hours daily up to 6 days a week.
>Work from all types of ladders, stepladders up to 14′, “A” frame ladders and all size extension ladders.
>Employee’s personal weight with personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1 ‑ 250 lbs., Class 1A ‑ 300 lbs.).
>Perform work at various heights, up to 50′ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks or other safe work areas.
>Work in restricted areas, switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics and vaults.
>Wear personal protective equipment (hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, masks, earplugs and respirators).
>Follow special procedures including contamination control, noise control, building systems awareness and procedures.
>Candidate must be able to work night shifts and mid shifts, as required by customers.
>Respond to short notice overtime requirements.

>Pay Rate: $25 – 30/hour
>Employee Health Insurance: 100% of the medical “Base Plan” paid by WGC 1st of the month following date of hire
>Voluntary Dental/Vision Insurance: Paid by employee based on coverage selection 1st of the month following date of hire
>Disability & Accident Insurance: Paid by employee based on coverage selection 1st of the month following date of hire
>Life Insurance: Paid by company at rate of $50,000 policy, 1st of the month following date of hire
>401(k)/Safe Harbor: Participate after 60 days. Weifield matches 100% of investment up to 4% of pay after one year of continuous employment
>EAP: Provided by Mines and Associates on behalf of Weifield Group
>PTO: 10 days annually, accrual begins upon hire date. First year accrual is prorated based on hire date and may not accrue the full 10 days in year one.
>Paid Holidays: 7 paid holidays per year
>Cell Phone Allowance: $75/Month
>Working Hours: M-F 6:30am – 4:00pm. Position may require night time, weekend, holiday, and overtime work.
