Heavy Equipment Operator

General Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other pieces of equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by his or her supervisor.

General Responsibilities
Business Process Analysis and Documentation: Research, analyze, and document the electrical project process at Weifield finding ways to be more efficient and profitable.
Identify Solutions for Improvement in the Organization: Through process analysis, this individual shall determine areas of improvement in terms of efficiency and company effectiveness, developing appropriate solutions.
Information Dissemination: Develop and facilitate high-quality and high-frequency communications throughout the company. Investigate and implement tools to achieve these goals.
Company “Handyman”: Act as an internal consultant to help multiple persons and departments within the organization develop programs and solutions to enhance efficient and/or effectiveness.
Training/Mentoring: Promote the professional growth of the team. Continually pursue opportunities for personal career/training development.
Industry Awareness: Continually seek industry and market information to provide Weifield with the information necessary for successful business development.
Job Specific Responsibilities and Qualifications
Safe and knowledgeable experience lifting and hoisting material
Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
Responsibility for daily inspections, participate in critical lift planning, and the safe operation of equipment
Ability to read and interpret lift plans and load charts
Understand grade stakes
Know how to efficiently and safely operate each piece of equipment assigned
Direct support laborers in a safe manner
Strong understanding of construction techniques
Equipment maintenance
Advise the Superintendent of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
Responsible for cleaning of equipment each day
Daily walk-around and reporting equipment problems
Checking fluid levels
Overall project/site safety.
Maintain a safe/clean work site
Participate and attend daily safety meetings
Notify Superintendent of all unsafe practices
Responsible for wearing safety equipment, running with lights on and completing pre-shift inspections
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
OSHA Competent in critical functions such as lifting, trenches, general conditions.
Ability to repeatedly lift 30+ pounds and navigate unstable ground conditions
Compensation Package
Start Date: TBD
Status: Full-time
Pay Rate: Non Exempt; Pay Range $28-32/hr
Employee Health Insurance: Healthcare 100% of the Employee’s “Base Plan” by WGC 1st of the month following date of hire.
Voluntary Dental/Vision Insurance: Paid by employee based on coverage selection 1st of the month following date of hire.
Disability & Accident Insurance: Paid by employee based on coverage selection 1st of the month following date of hire.
Life Insurance: 50K Life and ADD policy for employee only, paid by employer 1st of the month following date of hire.
HSA Plan: Employee can set aside $3600 pre-tax dollars /$7200 for Family 1st of the month following the date of hire.
HSA Company Contribution: Up to a max of $600 annually, contributed through four quarterly contributions. The employee must have active work hours on the week of assistance to be eligible. This amount is inclusive in the calculation of the max contributions allowable under an HSA plan.
PTO: 10 days per year 1-5 years and 15 days per year after 5 years. Seven paid holidays per year.
401k/Safe Harbor: Participate after 60 days. Weifield matches 100% of investment up to 4% after one year of consistent employment.

Due to the nature of this position additional time may be needed in order to complete work activities with no additional compensation.
